Raymond J. Obuchowski is a solo practitioner with the law firm of Obuchowski Law Office. Over the past 30 years, Mr. Obuchowski has focused his practice in the areas of consumer and business bankruptcy law, representing debtors and creditors in Chapter 7, 11, 12 and 13 cases. Mr. Obuchowski has served as a Chapter 7 Trustee on the panel of private trustees for the District of Vermont since 1986 having handled nearly 10,000 cases. Mr. Obuchowski has also served as a Trustee in Chapter 11 cases and as a Receiver for the Securities and Exchange Commission. Mr. Obuchowski graduated with honors from Western Illinois University in 1976 and received his J.D. degree in 1980 from Vermont Law School. Mr. Obuchowski was a law clerk to the Honorable Charles J. Marro, United States Bankruptcy Judge for the District of Vermont, and subsequently Bankruptcy Estate Administrator for the District, in 1982-1984.
Mr. Obuchowski is a Fellow in the American College of Bankruptcy, ( change link to above) and has been certified in both consumer and business bankruptcy law by the American Board of Certification since 1992. Mr. Obuchowski is a member and past Chair of the Bankruptcy Law Committee of the Vermont Bar Association, and an active member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees. He presently serves as Secretary on the National Associations of Bankruptcy Trustees Executive Board and the Board for the American Board of Certification, and its Standard and Nominating Committees. Mr. Obuchowski is a frequent lecturer on bankruptcy and workout related topics nationwide. Mr. Obuchowski has been recognized and listed in Who's Who Legal USA: Insolvency & Restructuring, The Guide to the World's Leading Insolvency Lawyers, Who's Who in American Law, and US Best Lawyers. He has also maintained an "AV- Preeminent" rating from Martindale-Hubbell for the past 20 years.
